not just a load of old bull dozers

The Caterpillar Experience is excellent for Education Outside The Classroom (EOTC) day trips. Children of all ages can learn about New Zealand’s pioneering history and see huge earthmoving machines up close. An exciting and interesting all-weather destination.

Our facility also includes a large outdoor picnic area and  machines that children can climb on and a play area.  Risk analysis/health & safety information is available to help make sure children are kept safe during their visit.   All heavy machinery is deemed a hazard - operational or stationary. A high ratio of adult supervision is paramount and we suggest all accompanying adults take an active role with encouraging student participation for the duration of the visit.

For older students, the Caterpillar® story provides an excellent case study for business studies and New Zealand history.

We offer  special rates for school groups and can provide worksheets on request.  Allow at least one hour to experience our attraction as a self-guided tour.  Our staff will personally introduce our product to your group on arrival and be available to answer any questions that may arise during your visit.

Plenty of off-street parking for coaches.  We are a wheelchair friendly facility.

For more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We are currently reviewing our focus on education to meet the achievement objectives specific to the NZ curriculum.
